We haven taken the time to answer the most commonly asked questions that surface regarding Partners Golf Trail. It is our hope that these answers will leave you with a better understanding about us. Should you have additional questions, don't hesitate to email them to us.
Question 1: What is Partners Golf Trail?
Answer: Partners Golf Trail is a series of golf tournaments held throughout Middle Tennessee designed to attract the competitive golfer that wants to play a low ball formatted tournament with a partner. The trail will play different courses monthly and will attempt to allow golfers to improve their games while realizing the opportunity to play in a competitive environment and compete for prize money, merchandise, trophies, and foster their love for the game of golf.
Question 2: Who can play Partners Golf Trail?
Answer: Partners Golf Trail has been designed to allow golfers of all skill levels with a handicap range of 0-25 to compete. Men, Women, Senior and Junior golfers are welcome. The format allows for players to partner with someone their own skill level or above and play together as a team. The unique format allows the team to take the lowest score on a hole, encouraging players to play their best and rewarding them for good team work.
Question 3: Do I need to have a handicap established?
Answer: No. While PGT encourages all participants to have an established USGA
handicap, we will allow players to participate via the honor system.
However, those who do not have an established handicap, or those who
cannot provide evidence of their handicap, will be limited to 70% of
their state handicap for the first event. Example: A player
gives a stated handicap of 10; that player would be allowed a maximum 3
shot variance from this number irregardless of your actual score. So if
a stated 10 handicap shoots 71, they would be capped to go no lower than
a 79, assuming a par 72 course.
PGT reserves the right to adjust stated handicaps for subsequent tournaments based on performance. If PGT feels that your stated handicap is incorrect we reserve the right to move you to another flight in order to keep all players competing on as level playing field as possible. If you have an established USGA handicap, we encourage you to use it when registering to play. Our goal is to ensure a level and competitive playing field for all golfers.
Question 4: When and Where will the tournaments be played?
Answer: Unless otherwise noted, all PGT tournaments (except for the Make-A-Wish Foundation charity tournament) will be held on Saturday mornings with an 8:00AM shotgun start. PGT reserves the right to change tournament dates and times with proper notification to members. It will be PGT’s objective to follow a published tournament schedule, however we have to remain flexible enough to work with the courses we are playing.
